Very Berry (high protein) Smoothie Bowl

Sue knows I’m a daily smoothie girl, but I hate to admit that I’m usually drinking it on the go. But once in a while I have the luxury of sitting down and enjoying. These are the days I turn my smoothie into a smoothie bowl and take the time to stop, breathe, and eat before the hectic day. But this is no regular smoothie, it’s packed full of quality ingredients needed to get you through the day. And as not only a photographer but an endurance athlete, a good, high-protein breakfast that sustains me for the morning is a non-negotiable.

Very Berry (high protein) Smoothie Bowl

serves 2

Blend in a high-speed blender:

  • 2 cups soy milk (or any milk you prefer)

  • 2 T chia seeds

  • 2 T hemp seeds

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I trust Thorne products)

  • optional: 1 T Sunbutter (or almond, or peanut)

  • 1-2 washed leaves of kale or a handful of spinach

  • frozen banana, cut into pieces

  • 1 cup frozen assorted berries

  • 1 cup water if needed to blend, but keep it thicker for your smoothie bowl

Place in a bowl top with:

  • granola, more fruit, oats, chia, nuts, coconut flakes…whatever makes you happy!
